Children age 14 through 17 must be accompanied by an adult.  Children under the age of 14 years are not allowed in the Fitness Room.

PILATES AT ILLAHE

Due to the popularity of Pilates at Illahe, classes and private sessions are filling by word-of-mouth before even being posted and the April Pilates schedule is now FULL.  If you are interested in participating in Pilates classes or Private Apparatus sessions in May, contact Melodie by mid-April with your request for May.

Want to play better golf, tennis or pickleball?  Try the free Standing Pilates class and improve your balance, increase spinal rotation, hip strength and get stronger overall. Sign-up required, call the front desk (503)364-0117 or email Brandi at reception@illahehills.com.  Each class is limited to 4 participants so sign up today! (Limited to 1 class per week per person.) These free classes are noon-1pm every M,T,W,TH in April and are held in the Pilates room

Melodie Adkins - Pilates Teacher & Illahe Club Member

Melodie has been a PMA Certified Pilates teacher since 2009.  Her Pilates teacher training began in 2007 and included all 5 Pilates levels on all mat work and apparatus, followed by another year of apprentice teaching in 2008.  In 2009 Melodie became certified by the Pilates Method Alliance, the only third party certification agency in the Pilates field.  She has been a member of the Pilates Method Alliance, the professional association for Pilates professionals, since 2007.  Following certification, Melodie taught Pilates mat classes in healthcare and university environments and had a small home studio before opening a professional Pilates studio in Rochester, NY.  Her studio, Mindful Body Pilates, provided classes and private apparatus sessions in a non-competitive environment where men and women could learn the benefits of Pilates for themselves.  During her year of studio ownership, Melodie developed her teaching style and her focus on rehabilitation and on correcting poor movement patterns that lead to chronic pain.  In order to combine Pilates with traditional healthcare, Melodie began an A.A.S degree in Physical Therapy, graduating in Mesa, AZ in 2014.  Melodie worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Wisconsin and Washington states, melding Pilates and Physical Therapy to help patients, including those with neuromuscular disease and chronic low back pain, improve their quality of life.  She is currently a licensed PTA in Oregon.  Melodie and her husband, Drew, moved to Salem in 2017 and became Illahe Club members.  Melodie is passionate about practicing the Pilates method of movement and showing others how Pilates can help them age gracefully with both strength and flexibility.  Her studio apparatus now resides at Illahe Hills Country Club where she shares her knowledge with Illahe Hills members.
